The Chicago advanced screening of John Singleton’s ‘Snowfall’ took place at the ShowPlace Icon Theatre at Roosevelt. This new cocaine origin TV Series is currently airing on the FX Network.

Snowfall stars Damson Idris in his breakout role playing Franklin Saint, who by the way has a heavy British accent that you do not hear in the series reminiscent of Idris Elba.

Snowfall is set in Los Angeles during crack epidemic and highlights how it effected our culture and The C.I.A. involvement.

The Q&A immediately following the first episode hosted by Chicago’s WGCI Kendra G was very intimate as the cast answered audience questions. When John Singleton was asked how can up and coming screenwriters catch a break he stated, “Keep writing and shooting locally.” John Singleton also stated later in the Q&A, “Always grind to get on can’t be lazy about yours.”

Episode one was intriguing, gritty, and enjoyable. The 80’s music throughout, the cinematography capturing the essence of the time, and the actors and actresses did not fall short. Eager to see how this series plays out.
