Breaking news has been reported out of Kansas City. The Chiefs have officially traded Quarterback Alex Smith to the Washington Redskins, and will reportedly save $17 Million dollars in the process.
The Chief reached an agreement to trade the veteran Alex Smith who has been the starting QB for the past 5 seasons.
Now there is no official word on how much Smith will be compensated as the trade can not be deemed official until the start of the business day on March 14 at 3pm.
Smith, 33, is coming off a fantastic season in which he set career-highs in passing yards (4,042), touchdowns (26) and passer rating of (104.7).
Heading into the 2017 seasonSmith entered the final year of his contract with the Chiefs, and he has a cap number of $20.6 million for 2018. By trading him during the off season the Chiefs are able to save close to $17 million.
