Genius Music Friday’s: New Music Releases
Story: Joi W
Happy Genius Music Friday Geniuses. There were quite a few singles that dropped today, but out of over twenty singles that I listened to, I was only interested in more of the pop culture this week.
There were two albums that dropped this week that I am mainly focused on as well.
Loud Geniuses, make sure you check out the picks below.
Singles to check out:
Alive
Lil Jon ft. Offset and 2 Chainz
Rate: 8/10
Considering that I am a huge Lil Jon fan, I actually like the collaboration. Lil Jon will definitely wake you up if you are asleep. Offset and 2 Chainz delivered on this single. Check it out. This belongs on your Pop/Rap playlist.
Joanne
Lady Gaga
Rate: 9/10
I am not a huge fan of Lady Gaga. However, this song has a sweet melody to it. It also has a great storyline. Geniuses, check it out though. You all may like it.
Albums to check out:
Scary Hours
Drake
Rate: 9/10
This album only has two songs ‘God’s Plan’ and ‘Diplomatic Immunity’. Drake is known for delivering good music. I am not a huge fan of Drake’s. However, I actually like both singles. I liked ‘God’s Plan’ of the two. I am looking out for a full album from Drake. He is playing with us. I am waiting for him to set out some good music soon. We need it Drake!!
My Picks of the Week:
Don’t Make Me Wait
Sting, Shaggy
Rate: 10/10
This is actually a helluva collaboration. Sting has made a comeback single by adding a well-known reggae artist, Shaggy, to his single. This reggae-feel album is da bomb! I enjoyed the melody of the single. I have not heard from Shaggy in a minute, so this was good to run across. Geniuses, this is one that you should listen to if you want hit a reggae move.
Culture II
Migos
Rate: 6/10
This was an album that we anticipated on being great. Personally speaking, I like Culture I better than this album. Quavo, Takeoff, and Offset, what the ………….. I am only feeling half of this album. We waited for some nursery rhymes. I am sort of disappointed with Migos. I was expecting them to switch it up slightly. The Intro turned me off but the Outro turned me on a little. I still decided to listen to it anyway. My favorite songs are ‘Supastars’, ‘Too Playa’ ft. 2 Chainz, ‘Made Men’, and ‘Walk It Talk It’ ft. Drake. If they were on the same flow like ‘Made Men’, I think I would like the album more. I will have to listen to this album multiple times for it to grow on me. This album features Big Sean, Ty Dolla $ign, Travis Scott, Drake, Gucci Mane, 21 Savage, Post Malone, Nicki Minaj, and Cardi B. The two singles, ‘Motorsport’ and ‘Stir Fry’ are also featured on this album. Regardless, I am not really into this album at all. This one will probably not get much play on my playlist radio. Geniuses, take a listen and let us know what you think.
