Genius Friday: “Heat In The Streets”

Review: Joi W
I’m back again with another Genius Music Friday. There were many singles that dropped today, but out of about twenty singles that I listened to, I was only interested in a couple.

Loud Geniuses, make sure you check out the picks below.

Singles to check out:

“Trap Clickin”
Moneybagg Yo, King Pop, Benji Wilson
Rate: 9/10
Although, Moneybagg Yo has been in some beef with fellow artist Ralo, I still think this single is great. He is an artist that I learned about in 2017 and decided to actually listen to older mixtapes.

I fell in love with him as an artist. This collaboration is great even though I am unfamiliar with King Pop and Benji Wilson. Be on the lookout for them. They could break into main industry and be as successful as Moneybagg Yo.

“Leveled Up”
Plies
Rate: 8/10
The “new” Plies is not as great as the “old” Plies. He needs to stick to talking ish on Instagram. He has been trying some new ways to put out music and I have not been feeling it. This single is actually off of his new mixtape, ‘Ain’t No Mixtape Bih 3”.

I like this single but the mixtape as a whole is a 2/10. It is TRASH! This entire “Bih” movement needs to shutdown ASAP. I need to seat down and talk to him because he was one of my favorite artist back in the early 2000’s. Geniuses, check it out though. You all may like it.

Albums to check out:

Zaytoven Presents: Trapping Made It Happen
Various Artist
Rate: 6/10
This album actually is being produced by the infamous producer Zaytoven. You may know him as Gucci Mane’s producer and close friend. He is an awesome producer but tends to have some of the same sounds.

He is a damn good piano player and can make chords sound good on any record. This album features Lil Uzi Vert, OJ Da Juiceman, Migos, Young Thug, Sosa, Eldorado Red, Young Dolph, Juicy J, Juggman, and Hoodrich Pablo Juan. I rated this a six because I believe some of these songs are old. It sounds like it was just thrown together. I still recommend the Geniuses to listen to it. It is dedicated to the South considering the artists picked.

My Pick of the Week:

My Song
H.E.R.
Rate: 9/10
H.E.R. was actually an unfamiliar artist to me until 2017. She happened to come across my radio playlist and I decided to give her a listen. She is an awesome R & B artist. She has a very smooth voice and has something to say. Geniuses, this is one that you should listen to if you want a nice chill night with your significant other. This one can actually be added to your playlist for winding down time.

Other singles to check out:
El Bano
Enrique Iglesias

The Champion
Carrie Underwood ft. Ludacris

Breakout Artists to check out: (Underground Artist)

YoungBoy NBA
G Herbo
Don Q
Shy Glizzy
