Have you listened to “When I Get Home”? It is a treat for your mental so you need to get into it. In the last 24-48 hours Solange dropped new music, gave us a short film and had folks signing up for blackplanet accounts again. What an incredible way to end Black History Month and usher in Women’s History Month. Solange is giving us the blackity black black experience we all need in 19 tracks. After “A Seat At The Table” many were wondering how would she top such a fantastic body of work…welp with more dopeness that’s how.
At the center of this masterfully put together project is Jazz, southern comfort with H-Town legend the late DJ Screw and other incredible creatives like Tyler the Creator, Playboi Carti, The Dream and more. There are so many head bobbing moments and voices from childhood that just makes a person giddy. The point is not to give-a-way the essence of what you need to experience for yourself but to let you know you need to experience the goodness that is Solange doing the damn thang!
There is a lot to be said when a artist walks to the beat of their own drum. She’s mastered being in her own lane and we are loving it, she also is putting on for her city of Houston while keeping the culture uplifted and feeling refreshed during a time that black folks was just seeing a lot of mess in the media. Music is a healer and we (black folks) needed those soft and soulful melodies.
