It’s no secret that funny woman Amy Schumer has taken the comedy game by storm with here comedic whit and hard hitting jokes. In fact….Schumar signed on the do her most recent comedy special “The Leather Special” in which she was paid a reported $11 Million dollars.
Now….the comedian has had to double back and retract some statements following the Variety reported article that indicated Schumer demanded to be paid like fellow comedians. Yesterday (August 23) she took to her social media to clear up her comments with this post stating:
Hot dog dog. Thanks for chiming in on what you feel I deserve to be paid. I believe women deserve equal pay. However I don’t believe I deserve equal pay to Chris and Dave. They are legends and 2 of the greatest comics of all time. I would like to say that I have been selling out arenas these last couple years. Something a female comic has never done. That’s a big deal to me, especially because I know I do my best every night on stage for the audience and they have a good time. I didn’t ask for the same as my friends. I did ask for more than the initial offer. I will continue to work my ass off and be the best performer I can be. The reports of me “demanding” or “insisting” on equal pay to them aren’t a true. #fat #stealsjokes
With fellow comedians like Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle brining in $40 million for two specials and Dave Chappelle earning a reported $60 million for three specials, Schumer did reveal that she want’s a raise.
It is reported that Schumer and her team had gone back to Netflix for the additional fund and lets just say she may have received a significant increase. The total amount was not disclosed but is said to be a step in the right direction.
Schumer did however acknowledge the fact that she and did ask Netflix to be paid but she wasn’t comparing herself and pay to the legends Rock and Chappelle.
